Charlie Chua

Physiotherapist

Charlie is a Registered Physiotherapist and one of our Supervising Clinicians at the UBC Physical Therapy and Research Clinic. With a Master’s in Physical Therapy and a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from UBC, Charlie loves blending his clinical expertise with his role as a preceptor, where he gets to supervise the next generation of therapists while helping his own clients reach their full potential.

He’s a big believer that rehab should be a partnership. Charlie works closely with you to understand what you really need, creating a plan that’s all about movement, education, and giving you the tools to feel confident in your own recovery. While he has a strong background in manual therapy and treating running or shoulder injuries, Charlie enjoys the variety of working with everyone, from those navigating neurological conditions to athletes getting back to the sports they love.

A lifelong athlete himself, Charlie has played in sports from rugby and hockey to MMA, golf and skiing to name a few. These days, you’ll likely find him weightlifting or training for a race along the seawall. When he’s not moving, he’s usually out enjoying Vancouver’s live music scene.

Natalie Marshall

Nowadays, she enjoys cycling, skiing, running and hiking – anything to be outside!

As a therapist, she believes in the combination of manual therapy, education and targeted exercise prescription to help patients manage their symptoms and get back to doing what they love. Natalie is passionate about building a strong connection with her patients so that they can be an active participant in their care and achieving their goals.

Natalie has experience working with a wide range of populations including post operative patients, individuals with osteoarthritis, neurological conditions, or acute sport related injuries. Avery is a second-year Master of Physical Therapy student at UBC and completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at UBC in 2025. Growing up in Campbell River on Vancouver Island, she developed a love for movement and the outdoors.

Through several years of teaching swimming and surfing, Avery has loved working with people of all ages and abilities to explore movement and gain confidence. Her experiences with communities in Campbell River, Tofino, and Haida Gwaii have shaped her approach to physiotherapy through a Two-Eyed Seeing lens, valuing the strengths of both Indigenous and Western ways of knowing. Avery loves getting to know people and believes physiotherapy should be collaborative, with clients feeling heard and involved in their care.

Outside of physiotherapy, she loves surfing, hiking, camping, and collecting pretty shells and beach glass with friends. Avery is looking forward to working with you at PRTC!

Kane Louie

Student Physiotherapist

Kane is a second-year student in the Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) program at the University of British Columbia.

Before entering the program, Kane completed his Bachelor’s of Kinesiology at UBC, specializing in Neuromechanical and Physiological Sciences before working as a Registered Kinesiologist in his hometown of Calgary, AB.

Kane’s background working with traumatic brain injuries and persistent-concussion symptoms has shaped his clinical approach to be highly adaptable and personalized. He understands that treatment is never uniform; thus, he prioritizes collaborative communication and client-identified goals so that care can be catered in a way that is meaningful and effective.

Outside of the clinic, you can find Kane trying every hobby that your stereotypical 20-something adult tries, including but not limited to; soccer, mountain biking, or reluctantly running the seawall.

Noah Paterson

Student Physiotherapist

RNoah is a second-year student in the Master of Physical Therapy program at UBC. Before entering the program, he spent two years working as a registered kinesiologist, specializing in musculoskeletal and concussion populations.

Throughout his training, Noah has worked with a diverse range of patients across a variety of settings, including musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory populations.

Outside the clinic, Noah is an avid sports fan, youth basketball coach, and eager participant in just about any form of physical activity. Although his competitive background is in baseball and basketball, you’ll now more likely find him on the golf course, playing racquet sports, or snowboarding in the winter.

When he’s not busy playing sports, Noah enjoys reading, weightlifting, and working his way through his top 100 movie list. Thanks to this background, Noah is no stranger to injuries and pain, and he understands both sides of rehabilitation. He values a collaborative approach to help clients move more, build confidence, and return to the activities that matter most to them.

Riley Foster

Student Physiotherapist

Riley is a student physiotherapist in the Master of Physical Therapy program at UBC. Previously, he completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Exercise Science specialization) from the University of the Fraser Valley.

He approaches rehabilitation with curiosity, finding out what motivates individuals, what is practical for them, and working together to create a plan that gets them where they want to go. Riley is movement and education focused but is quick to research and collaborate with colleagues to ensure clients with a variety of backgrounds and presentations receive the best possible care.

Getting to build meaningful relationships with clients and celebrating milestones in their rehabilitation journey is what motivates him. Outside of the program and clinic, Riley enjoys board games with friends and family, sports, building things with his hands, and road tripping in his van.
